Anniversary 2024
The Anniversary 2024 event was a demo showcasing future features such as:
It also included some permanent changes, notably surrounding Ninjas:
- Ninjas can now die to the Digital Sea
- Ninjas will now appear whenever there is a Tower activated by Tyron, meaning the Cortex tower is now protected
- Ninjas now have devirtualization animations
- Ninjas now have updated stats:
- Increased damage (6 → 8)
- Increased health (20 → 30)
- Decreased reach (2 → 1.4)
- Increased view range
- Fixed Ninjas being immune to some powers
- Added Tyron's status to the Threat Control Program
- Completing the Cortex's mission will now reset Tyron's progress in localizing Lyoko. (Useless outside of the demo, but still technically permanent)
- Added translated subtitles for better accessibility
The demo ended on the 1st of October 2024 and all changes aside from the permanent changes were reverted.
Tyron Attacks
Tyron attacks were special attacks launched occasionally which consisted in Tyron activating a tower on Lyoko to locate its Supercomputer. The towers were protected by Ninjas instead of the usual Monsters sent by XANA.
The attacks were independent from XANA's own attacks and did not interfere directly with them in any way, aside from things such as locking the Return To The Past in the same way XANA's towers do.
Tyron's progress in locating the supercomputer was (and still is) visible in the Threat Control program, and it rose very slowly while a tower was activated. The only ways to reset it were to either use the Return To The Past or clear the Cortex mission.
Overvehicles
Overvehicles have benefited from a new flight system and the ability to be colored depending on your primary and secondary power colors.
The primary power color tinted certain parts of the Overvehicle, while the secondary power color dictated the hue of the (de)materialization wireframe.
The new flight system granted the ability for Overvehicles to fly freely in every sector, similarly to how it previously only did in Sector Five and the Shell. However, there were a few restrictions:
- Overvehicles lost free flight if they had no direct sky access (blocks above them)
- Overvehicles lost free flight if they went too high above a sector
- Overvehicles consumed triple the usual amount of nitro while above the digital sea
- Overvehicles lost the ability to consume less nitro while looking up above the digital sea
Trivia
- This event marked the first appearance of Tyron towers outside of the Cortex.
- This event marked the first appearance of Ninjas outside of the Cortex.
- This event was the first to not have an advancement granted at the end, mostly due to it not being a linear story to follow.
- Overvehicle free flight finally made a return with the Bestiary Update, originally marked as a new demo, but it is unlikely it will ever be reverted.
